Kathyrn MagendieKathryn Magendie

Kathryn Magendie left behind her moss-filled grandfather oak trees in South Louisiana and floated off to her tucked-in cove in Western North Carolina, where she spins tales, drinks Deep Creek Blend coffee (and sometimes a vodka-tonic with lime), and contemplates the glow of Old Moon. Born a squalling hillbilly in West-by-God Virginia, the bold and ancient Smoky Mountains now cradle her.

She is a writer, freelance editor, and co-managing editor of The Rose & Thorn Literary Ezine. She’s been published in both online and print magazines. Mostly, she remains in a state of amazement that she gets to live her dream while fully awake.

A more detailed list of her publications and credits follows: Kathryn’s essays, poetry, short stories, book reviews, interviews, and photography have been published or are forthcoming in places such as: New Southerner Magazine, Vagabondage Press-Battered Suitcase, Sotto Voce, Western North Carolina Woman Magazine (including a first place win in WNCW's 2008 Short Story contest); Mocha Momma Literal Latte; Baton Rouge Sunday Magazine; BoomerWomen/Our Stories; Cantaraville Three; OCEAN Magazine; A Cup of Comfort for Writers; Moondance-Celebrating Creative Women; C/Oasis: Writing for the Connected World; The Rose & Thorn; Jubilee Anthology-Nichols State University (Tender Graces novel excerpt); Halfway Down the Stairs; Drollerie Press; Lunch Hour Stories; L'Intrigue, the Wild Magnolia of Literature; and has had feature stories, a literary column, restaurant reviews, and interviews in publications The Indie, and The Mountaineer Publishing Company’s The Guide.
